For valentines day 2022, I decided to sew an A line dress with princess seams and pockets. I decided to give it a twist however. I decided to sew with lace. Lace is a beautiful fabric that I rarely use and wanted to play with. I wanted a fully lined dress with a lace overlay. I draped my design to my mannequin, sized to me, size 18. I whipped up a quick mock up, only to revise the back bodice pieces to be slimmer and longer. I then began the painstaking task of sewing all the lace to the red fashion fabric. This took many hours. I also decided to use a red lace that was embroidered and embellished with sequins. I only broke one needle surprisingly. This was not the first time I lined a bodice, but was a first time lining the skirt. I tried many variations of sewing, but came up with an easy enough solution to sew the bodice and skirt together. Once completed, I had a lovely brunch of crepes, not included with my partner. I also wore the dress to work and loved the compliments and surprised looks when I said that I made it. Receiving praise and compliments after a tough sewing project, is the reason why i keep sewing!
